Holistic Health Therapies

Swedish Massage

Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. It includes a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is the application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions. Gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.

Aromatherapy Massage

The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds. Each oil has its own unique characteristics and benefits.

RAINDROP TECHNIQUE

Inspired by ancient Lakota wisdom, this gentle yet powerful treatment uses therapeutic-grade essential oils that combat pathogens and reduce inflammation. The oils range from warming to cooling, and range from calming and soothing to energizing and rejuvenating. The oils fall like gentle drops of rain onto the vertebral column and the back muscles. Traditional, light, massage techniques further deepen the oil into the system. The feet, neck and head are also treated in this balancing, energizing and supportive session. This technique is ideal for people in need of deeper support because of emotional and physical stress. Although the treatment itself is only an hour, the effects of the treatment can continue for as little as a week or as long as a few months.

SHIATSU

Which can be translated from Japanese as “finger pressure” and is also known as “needleless acupuncture” as both techniques address energy (KI, Qui, Chi) imbalances within the pathways (meridians) which run through the muscle tissue.  Shiatsu uses no oils so the client is comfortably clothed and uses gentle pressure. Shiatsu can be used to relieve muscular tension (particularly in the neck and shoulders), arthritis and anxiety, as well as improve circulation and boost the immune system.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Focuses
on realigning deeper muscle and connective tissue fibers by removing adhesions which can block circulation, cause pain, limited movement and inflammation. This technique is particularly effective in treating chronic pain, recovery from injuries, repetitive strain, Osteoarthritis pain, muscle spasm,
postural imbalances and Fibromyalgia. Deep tissue massage is usually associated with a painful session, however Lori’s technique is deeply relaxing instead.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Is tailored toward specific areas of the body that are overused in exercise. A key benefit is the targeting of muscle-tendon junctions to improve range of motion, decrease muscle soreness and inflammation, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, and prevent injuries. This technique will prepare your body for optimal performance.

FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

Not only relieves specific foot and ankle pain such as plantar fascitis or arthritis.  Areas of the sole correspond to internal organs and systems that when treated “reflexively”  effect the entire body leading to decreased stress.

CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY

Seeks to restore the natural position and function to the bones of the head, spine and sacrum. This gentle, non-invasive technique releases compression and can provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain, and TMJ syndrome from clenching jaws.
Developed from Osteopathic Medicine, Cranial Sacral Therapy discovers constrictions of connective tissue and very gently  encourages release to normalize the flow of the cerebral spinal fluid “pulse” nourishing
this system.

REIKI

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us
to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
